F. Edmond Waymel

F. Edmond Waymel, 89, of Highland, IN, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. He is survived by: beloved spouse of 67 years Joan, loving daughters Diane (Michael) Larson, Valerie (David) Duda, and Laura (Daryl) Peters, caring son Edmond Waymel, grandchildren Matthew (Ashley) Duda, Brian Waymel, Lindsey (Brent) Hinkemeyer, Marc Duda, Therese Waymel, Peter Larson, Andrew Peters, and Nate Peters, great-grandchildren Emily, Violet, Brandon, Cora, and Zachary, and many additional loving family members. He was preceded in death by: sister Eleanor Cameron, and brother Robert Waymel.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, 46321 beginning at 10:00 am. Rev. Michael Yadron officiating.

Edmond enjoyed performing in many church plays. More recently, he enjoyed going out to dinner and viewing plays at the Performing Arts Center of Munster with friends. He enjoyed traveling, driving out west, and his annual trip to Panama City Beach with family and friends. He was a lifelong Catholic who attended mass regularly and enjoyed his duties as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Thomas More and volunteered his time for Alhambra for special needs children. In his youth, he had the honor of being mayor of Chicago for a day. Most recently, he was passionate about driving to the recycling center to recycle metal and cardboard.
