Raymond V. Raszewski Oct 18, 1952 – Feb 4, 2018
Ray was born in East Chicago, IN, where he was raised by his parents, Raymond and Irene Raszewski. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1970. In 1982 he met and fell in love with his future wife Linda and the pair married the next year. In 1985, they were delighted to welcome their son, Eric to their family. Ray was a devoted father; he was Eric’s biggest fan in the football/soccer stadium, supporter through Eric’s military career, and mentor throughout his life. Ray committed his extensive work career to the betterment of his community. He was a Lowell Police Commissioner, Town Councilman, Town Council President, and Lowell’s first Emergency Management Director. He served on the Board of Zoning Appeals, Ethic’s Commission (appointment), Solid Waste District Board, and Precinct Committee (over 30 years). His many work experiences at the Lake County Government Center include the Sheriff’s Department’s Court Security and Work Release, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Clerk’s Office, and most recently returned to the Sheriff’s Department’s Bureau of Investigations. He was an influential member of our community and will truly be missed by all those that knew him. Ray left this world too soon on February 4th, after a well fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Linda, son Eric, and sister Louise.
There will be a service at the Lowell Church of Christ, Saturday, Feb 10, 2018 at 11:00am with Minister Church Hochmuth officiating. In memory of Ray, please consider being an organ donor or donating to Donate Life at www.donatelifeindiana.org
