Shirley Ann (Hardesty) Gasvoda

Shirley Gasvoda, 88, of Schererville, Indiana passed away March 11, 2024. She was born October 6, 1935 in Hammond, Indiana to Louise and Eugene Hardesty. She was married to the love of her life, Jerome Robert (Jerry) Gasvoda on November 6, 1954. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Eugene. She is survived by two sons Mark (Colleen) and Mike (Lynn); eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley was a graduate of Hammond Tech and a lifelong member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ where she was an active member in many social and ladies’ groups. She played an integral part in the life of Jerry and their business enterprises, often hosting parties for groups as large as 75 people. She was the ultimate host and a wonderful cook! Every family meal was a celebration. Shirley and Jerry retired to Naples Florida where they spent many winters at Wyndemere Country Club. She must best be remembered for her endless love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was never without a small gift for every one of them during visits.

A private service will be held at Hillside Funeral Home with a celebration of life to be held for both her and Jerry at a future date.
