Angel Felipe Pabey

Angel F. Pabey, 68, of Hammond, Indiana passed away Wednesday June 12, 2019. He was born October 14, 1950 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico to parents Emilia Ramos Pabey and Angel M. Pabey. He moved to Indiana from Puerto Rico at age 8. Angel is preceded in death by his father Angel M., mother Emilia, brothers Enrique, Rigoberto, Alberto Pabey, and sister Luz (Pabey) Held. He is survived by children Sherri Pabey, Adam Pabey, Kendra (Pabey) Tapp, Steven Hillis, Adam Hillis, and Jonathan Pabey, beloved niece/daughter Nancy Montalvo, brother and sisters Graciela (Pabey) Igartua, Orlando Pabey and Mary (Pabey) Lucido. Also survived by seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews, mother of children Helen Hillis and girlfriend Lourdes Morales.

Angel is a graduate of Hammond Tech Class of 1969, having enlisted in the Army immediately after. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. Later in life Angel was a police officer in Providence Kentucky and then later a longshoreman in Burns Harbor, Indiana

Angel loved the outdoors—traveling, camping and biking. He was also an avid pool player, loving to shoot pool with friends and family. Angel was a kind, soft-spoken man, friend to many, loving brother and son, and most of all, a devoted and loving father. Angel was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord.

Friends are invited to Gather with the family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, Indiana 46322.  A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, immediately following the Gathering. Interment with Military Honors will be held after the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
