Asalee Webb Walker

Mrs. Asalee Webb Walker, 91, made her transition to her final home while listening to Elvis Presley singing "In the Garden" on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at home with her daughter Sallie as her care giver.  She was born to the union of Edward Webb Sr., and Nannie (Simmons) Webb on July 5, 1928 in Gary, IN.  She was the last to pass of eight children.   She is survived by her children, Karlisa Midell, Sallie Walker, and Alonzo I. Walker, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Roberta Reed; ten grandchildren, Katherine (Jonas) Dunn, Sr., Timothy Reed, Clarence McClam III, Aaron Austin, Jerek Boclaire, Sterling Arthur, Skye Berger, Alonzo Walker III, Joshua Walker, and Justinne Walker; twenty great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Connie Webb, and many additional loving family members and friends.  Asalee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alonzo I. Walker, Sr., her son, Jerome Reed, and granddaughter, Allena Chapman.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. John Baptist Church, 2457 Massachusetts St, Gary, IN 46407.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at the church, immediately following the visitation.

Asalee was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana.  She was retired from the Gary Community School System. After retirement, she spent time helping to raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending more time taking care of her lawn. She was dubbed "Boney Tic" by her relatives for being immaculate in her ticky ways. She was a phenomenal baker known for her fresh coconut cakes, tea cakes, zucchini bread made from scratch. She cooked breakfast everyday for her children, even when we were late for school, and that was often. She had a great sense of humor. We had to have a tissue or handkerchief when we left the house, and to this day we still carry one with us when we leave. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
