Don E. Genis

Donald E. Genis, 85, of Griffith, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. He is survived by his loving and adoring family: wife Helen, son David (Jennifer), daughter Carol, grandson Brady, twin granddaughters Taylor and Payton, and furry pal Dashiell.

He was preceded in death by his dear parents John and Martha and brother John.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 525 Broad St. Griffith, IN, 46319 followed by Mass at 10:00 am with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Burial at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.

Don was an entrepreneur and businessman and founder of Genis Builders and Realty.  He was well known and respected for his devotion to community having served in public office for decades, including as Griffith Town Board President and Trustee, Clerk Treasurer of the Town of Griffith, Lake County Deputy Auditor, and Lake County Deputy Treasurer.

Most importantly, Don was a devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, and loyal friend who loved his family above all else. He had a strong passion for golf, profound wisdom, a witty sense of humor, and lived a life of strong faith in God.
