Donald Childers

Donald "Don" Keith Childers, 86 formerly of Highland, IN returned to his heavenly home after a valiant battle with a rare cancer.  

His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace while being placed back into the arms of the Lord.

Don was born in 1931 to his loving Christian parents, Dean & Margaret Childers, in Hammond, IN.

It was the simple things in life that he never took for granted.  Always thankful to the Lord for all.  He was the ultimate optimist and made the most of everyday.

Absolutely devoted to family and friends, he was a friend to all he encountered.  

Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Ann.

His children, Donald (Judy) Childers, Edward Childers, Thomas Childers, Diane (Childers) Wagoner, Cathleen (Childers) Gwyn. 

Don's cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Wagoner, Shane Wagoner, Erika Goralczyk, Emilee Gwyn, Elizabeth Napier, Theo Childers, Troy Childers, Shawn Childers, Dustin Childers and Tommy Childers.

His adoring great grandchildren, Ethan, Aaralynne, Kira, Liam, Chloe, Dexter, Payton, and Maddox.

A devout Christian, Don was a member of South Side Christian Church and served as a devoted Elder and faithful Sunday School Teacher.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at South Side Christian Church, 1000 Broadmoor Ave, Munster, IN 46321 from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m.  A Funeral Service will be held at the church Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Cremation to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude House or South Side Christian Church of Munster, IN
