Herman Gonlag Obituary

Herman Gonlag, age 91, of Crown Point, IN, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was born on November 28, 1926 in Hazel Crest, IL to the late Marie and Herman Gonlag.

Herman is survived by: wife, Cora Jane; children: Mark Gonlag and Audrey (Carl) Persinger; 5 grandchildren: Lindsey ( Brian) Jonaitis, Jared Persinger, Caitlin (Joe) Sanchez, Alicia (Zach) Kekelik and Halie Gonlag; 5 great grandchildren: Laney, Lyla and Cade Jonaitis, Leo and Simon Kekelik; sister: Marie Saulsgiver. He was preceded in death by siblings; Gary, Bud and Harry Gonlag and Carrie Eylander.

Herm enlisted in the U.S. Navy at seventeen. He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 1005, since 1950. Long time member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. South Lake Co. Agricultural Historical Society member for many years. He enjoyed fishing, showing his Fordson tractor and driving his antique Model T & Model A cars.
