Jean Marie Huizenga

Jean Marie Huizenga, 83, of Highland, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Henry; son Larry (Vicki) Huizenga; daughter Brenda (Steve) Konings; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Eriks, and an infant son, Brian Huizenga.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, Indiana 46322. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM at the funeral home, immediately following visitation.  The service will be officiated by Jean's brother-in-law, Rev. John Kerssies, and her grandson, Rev. Chadd Huizenga.

Memorials may be given, in Jean's honor, to the Luke Society or to Highland Christian School.

Jean was born on January 9, 1936, to Sam and Marie (nee Kramer) Vander Woude.  Jean graduated from Illiana Christian High School, where she met her husband, Henry Huizenga. Henry and Jean were married September 5, 1958, and were blessed with 60 years of marriage.  The couple raised two children, Larry & Brenda.  Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; she found joy in loving her family and friends. Jean was a longtime member of First Christian Reformed Church of Highland (Faith - Highland).
