Joshua Ogden Obituary

Joshua Paul Ogden, born December 9, 1980 in Kankakee, Illinois, left this earth to be with Jesus on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the age of 38. He was a long-time resident of Northwest Indiana.

Josh was an irreplaceable part of a large family who loved him dearly. He is survived by his parents: Dennis (Lou) Ogden and Ruth (Dave) Sprecher; as well as several brothers and sisters: Michelle (Jesse) Rynders, Wynda (Al) Evon, Michael (Kim Bogan) Ogden, Allen (Erica) Ogden, Susan (Todd) Cosenza, and Cricket (Norbert) Estrada. His family also includes several dearly loved nieces and nephews: Alexis and Isaiah Rynders; Kate (Sean) Rock; Natalie (Luis) Valentin; Emily, Amanda, and Vicky Evon; Laila, Calla, and Neila Ogden; Collin and Camille Cosenza; Jessie and Alice Estrada. In addition, he had many loved ones and close friends who considered him a brother and shared many life experiences with him. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Glenn and Margaret Ogden and maternal grandparents Dallas and Erma Horner.

Since 2017, Josh was a member of Hope Church in Griffith, Indiana, where he came to an even greater understanding of who he was as a son of God—fully forgiven because of Jesus’ sacrifice, fully loved, fully known, and fully accepted. At Hope Church, he was surrounded by an authentic and dynamic church family who continually encouraged him to press on to discover the good plans God had in store for him. He had an incredibly tender heart towards anyone in need and was always generous with his time, affection, and resources. Anyone who heard him pray knew he had an intimate and personal relationship with his Creator. Jesus was his Savior and best friend, and he was unashamed to say so. He overflowed with gratitude towards God, for all that He had done for him. Josh had a contagious sense of humor and was as unpretentious as anyone could be. He made friends with anyone and everyone along his journey of life. He was incredibly intelligent and had an innate ability to solve problems and fix almost anything—whether mechanical, electrical, technological or otherwise. Josh was a gifted musician and played the guitar from a young age. He served on the worship team at Hope Church and loved to sing and pour out his heart in worship to God with his church family.
