Norma J. Rinsema

Norma June Rinsema (nee Kooy), 92 of Westlake, OH and formerly of Gary, IN passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on May 6, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Leon Rinsema and devoted mother to five children: Barbara (Richard) Gash, Laura (Kerry) Krentz, Betty Rinsema, Jim Rinsema, and Jan (Dan) Kuiper. Norma had 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her brother, Art (Judith) Kooy, sisters Dorothy (Gary) Witvoet and Carol (the late Mark) Hillyer, and sister-in-law Carolyn (Geurt) VanHal. She was preceded in death by parents Albert and Winnie Kooy, sisters Teresa (the late Robert) Joyce, Alyda (the late Anthony) Schaap, brothers Elmer (the late Ruth Ann) Kooy and Donald (Gladys) Kooy, brothers-in-law Jud (the late Gert) Rinsema and Jack (the late Jean) Rinsema, and sister-in-law Grace (the late Harold) Streich.

Before moving to Westlake, Norma was an active member of Community United Reformed Church in Schererville. She volunteered for years at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Shop in Highland. Norma was retired from Rosalee Apparel in Hammond, IN. The family thanks those who cared for her in recent years at the Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 6:30 PM on Friday, May 10, at Hillside Funeral Home (8941 Kleinman Rd. in Highland, IN). A Funeral Service will be held immediately following at 6:30 PM on Friday with Rev. Todd Joling officiating. There will be a private burial service on Saturday morning at 10:30 at Hope Cemetery in Highland.
