Thomas James Gearhart Sr.

Thomas James Gearhart Sr. 78, of Griffith, IN, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019. Tom was the youngest son of Louise Edith, siblings: Phillip (Red) & Charles Thomas, sister-in-law Judy Gearhart, nieces and nephews: Phillip Jr. (Jennie), Nadine and Nanette, and Robin. Tom was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School. He married Lucille Ann Woloszyn and they become the parents of Thomas Jr. Tom Sr. Enlisted in the US Army (Leonardwood & Carson) and was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sgt. Addition number two, John, came next. Tom Sr. Worked at Continental Can Co. until he started his career in auto parts for Whites Pit Stop. Moving to Indiana, he began working for Van Senus Auto Parts. At Van Senus, he organized a very successful race team. 

Friends are invited to visit with the family Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a Prayer Service to be held at the funeral home at 3:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 21, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church 525 N Broad St. Griffith, IN, 46319 beginning at 10:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at the church. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Keith Virus officiating. 

Tom is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years, Lucille, sons Tom Jr. and John (Angela), granddaughters Blaire, Haley, and Katelyn, brothers-in-law Stanley Woloszyn, and John (Lorrie), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: mother Louise Edith, brothers Phillip and Charles, in-laws Harry and Rose Woloszyn, and sister-in-law Luellen Woloszyn.
