Vernon Roark, Jr., 60, of Gary, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019.  He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, of 38 years. Vernon is also survived by his three children, Daniel Roark, Dana Roark, and Deeanna (Edgar) Ignacio, five grandchildren, Adrian Ignacio, Brayden and Aubrey Ballard, Alexander Ignacio -- “Popo's Right Hand Man”, and Julianna Ignacio, one sister, Carolyn Morgan, and one brother, Dennis Roark, as well as numerous additional loving family members. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Sr., and Vanette Roark, and two sisters, Hazel and Connie.

Vernon, a former National Guardsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid scrapper.  Vernon was a man who loved family; he cherished his five grandchildren and was thrilled about the one on the way.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, Indiana, with a funeral service immediately following, at the funeral home.
