Wanda Dell Crumpton

Wanda Dell Crumpton, 80, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 2nd surrounded by family members at her home in Odessa, FL.

Wanda is predeceased by her parents, Jim and Vada Brown, her sister, Marjorie Clark, and brothers Jim, Orville (Buck), and Dal. 

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Thomas Jr. of Canton, GA; Kelly (Russ) Greer of Tampa, FL, Kimberly Tuggle of Avondale, AZ, and Wendy (Russ) Gallery of River Forest, IL; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Laura Milhoan of Mansfield, OH; Bob Brown of Tyler, TX, Ed Brown of Tolland, CT; many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew her as “Aunt Nonnie.”

Wanda was born in Porter, IN, the fourth of eight children.  She attended Hammond Tech, where she was named Hammond Tech’s queen in 1954 and graduated in 1955.  She then went to work for the railroad for several years before starting a family.  She retired from Whiteco Industries in 2010 where she was the executive assistant to Dean White – a job she loved for over 30 years. She was a life-long Hoosier before moving to the warmer Florida climate in the Fall of 2017.

When not spending time with her family, Wanda enjoyed watching her 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs.

Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2018 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Rd. (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 9:30 a.m. at Ross Community Reformed Church, 3900 W 41st Ave in Gary, where Wanda was an active member for 30 years, Rev. Rich Bawinkel officiating. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN, followed by lunch at Tiebel’s, 1771 US-41 in Schererville.
