William Bell Sessions, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in Portage, Indiana. He is survived by his loving children Karen De La Vega (Louis), Russell (Faye), Donna Shive (Rich), Wayne Earl, Jeffrey Earl, Jim Sessions (Tresa), Jennifer Lambert (Shawn) and Jason Sessions (Natalie). He was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Louise (Fields) Sessions and parents, Russell Sessions and Elise (Bell) Sessions.
Bill was born in Cullman, Alabama on May 5, 1933, the brother of 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He was an Army veteran who proudly serving in the Korean war. He married Martha Louise on August 16, 1955. The two eventually settled in northwest Indiana, where they raised their family. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad; however, he often worked two jobs to provide for his family. Bill loved fishing, watching westerns, caring for his roses, a good cheeseburger and beer, and was also an avid Cubs fan.
At Bill’s request, no services will be held. A military burial will be scheduled in Montevallo, Alabama in the fall. In his last days, Bill accepted Jesus as his savior. His family rejoices knowing that he is reunited with his loving wife. Thank you to all of those who have prayed for him and to the staff at Wyndmoor Assisted Living for showing him such compassion and love in his last days.
