Agapito "Pete" Diaz, age 70, resident of Gary, IN, went to his eternal peace on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. Left to treasure memories of Agapito are: mother Juana Amaya Diaz, brothers Jose' (Erin) Diaz and Ramon Diaz, sisters Jane (Richard) McIntire, Gloria (Paul) Butler, Sandra (Jesus) Rivera, Raquel Arenas, and Avelina (Scott) Russell. Left to treasure their Uncle Pete's memory are numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Agapito was preceded in death by: infant son Agapito Diaz Jr., beloved father Jose Vera Diaz, brother Ernesto Diaz, and sisters Consuelo Diaz and Alice (Diaz) Bannister.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2020 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm.
Agapito "Pete" was a talented musician, a voracious reader, and was well informed in numerous topics.
Pete served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Pete was a sharpshooter rifle marksman and a missile man. Pete left the Army with an honorable discharge.
Agapito "Pete" was a student of life, maybe THE INSTRUCTOR of life! Pete always told the nieces and nephews, "I am the best example of a bad example!".
Pete loved life and he lived his life to the fullest. Rest in peace Pete. Give our love to those you see in heaven!
