Albert Robert Hmurovic, age 89, of Highland, IN, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021. He is survived by his wife and eternal love Joan Hmurovic, his loyal companion Little Love Angelica, son Cary (Adeline) Hmurovic, granddaughter Kimberlee Pittman, and grandson CJ (Lupita) Hmurovic Jr. He was several more grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and special friends Kimberly Hmurovic and Richard Zapla. Preceding him in death are his father Charles Hmurovic, his mother Mary (Berchin) Hmurovic, his brothers Charles Hmurovic, John Hmurovic, and Henry Hmurovic, and his ststers Helen Rogina, Margaret Obrenski, and Betty Cerajewski.
Albert and Joan met at a Christmas dance in 1948. They married in May 27, 1953. He left for the Korean War in July of 1953. He returned home in January 1955. After returning from the war, he was employed by Standard Oil Company as a chemical technician for several years, and then retired from Vista Chemical in 1996. He belonged to Our Lady of Grace in Highland, IN. As a parishioner, he was involved in several church groups such as Marriage Encounters, RCIA Program, Vacation Bible School, Eucharistic Minister, and wherever else was needed to serve the Lord. He was a dedicated religious family man and extraordinary husband. He enjoyed traveling, camping, overseas cruises, and staying at home with his family and precious dog. He belonged to the VFW and American Legion. His hobbies were woodworking and construction. Everyone who knew him was drawn to his caring personality and whit. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, located at 3025 Highway Ave, Highland, IN, 46322. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 2305 W. 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN, 46410.
