Alexander M. Salazar (Alex) age 47, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, September 16th,2025. He is survived by his loving mother, Karen Salazar (Kowalski); Sister, Aliya Curtis (Stephen Curtis). He was also loving Uncle Fluffy to nieces Alyssa and Casandra (Cassie) Curtis, and nephew Jace Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isidoro Salazar Jr, and paternal Grandparents Isidoro Salazar Sr. and Mary Salazar and maternal grandparents Stanley and Emma Kowalski. He also has a large extended family with many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Born in Chicago Hts., IL, He was a lifetime resident of Hammond, IN. Alex was a graduate of Donald E. Gavit High School class of 1995. He was employed by Dakkota Integrated Systems, and he was a dedicated member of United Auto Workers local 3212. Outside of work, Alex found joy in the simple things- playing card games like UNO with his nieces and nephew where he was a formattable opponent who never let them win no matter their age. He was also an avid fan of role- playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. Alex also enjoyed playing various games online through his XBOX with people from around the world. Alex was also some what of a cooking legend always conjuring upon culinary creations for others to enjoy or to run from.
Alex was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Oct 17th, 2025, from 5:00 pm- 6:30 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 with a Funeral Service at 6:30 pm.
