Alice Mae Ryfa, age 91, of Highland, IN passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021. She is survived by her nieces, Jacqueline (Ray) Carden, Pamela (John) Lieberenz, Cynthia (Dennis) Northrop, and Lori Novak (John); great-nieces and nephew, Rachel (Les) Turbin, Emily (Dante) Ortega, Andrew (Megan) Lieberenz and Heather (Kyle) Schau; great-great nieces and nephews, Jaide, Ava, Joaquin, Liam and Camila; and many cousins. Preceding her in death was her parents Joseph and Helen Ryfa, and sister Genevieve (James) Novak.
Alice’s life was very fulfilling as she travelled the world with her best friend, Marge Trella and taking her nieces on many trips to various cities and countries. She worked as a Chemical Lab Technician at United States Steel, Universal Atlas Cement (Lehigh Hanson) until her retirement. Thereafter, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels of NW Indiana for 28 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Griffith. She loved her dog, Pudgie, as well as many pets prior to that. Alice was very devoted to her family and friends throughout her life and loved to share her many life experiences with all of those who knew and loved her. She will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with a prayer service following immediately at 4:00 pm at Hillside. At the request of the family, masks are required.
