Amanda Harrison Obituary

Amanda C. Harrison, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and cherished friend, left this world too soon at the age of 48 on March 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 2, 1975, in Blue Island, IL, Amanda's zest for life, love for art, and dedication to education defined her journey.

A proud 1993 graduate of Lemont High School, Amanda's passion for art led her to Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her commitment to sharing her love of art didn't stop there; she furthered her education with a teaching certificate, igniting young minds in Phoenix, AZ, and Fullerton, CA, before returning to her roots in Plainfield, IL. There, Amanda founded Art Cube Studios, a sanctuary of creativity that offered both children and adults a place to explore and learn various art mediums under the guidance of Amanda and other dedicated teachers.

Amanda's heart found its match in Mark Harrison, and together they blended a beautiful family with daughters Samantha, Paige, Piper, and Faith. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and countless artistic projects, reflecting Amanda's belief in the power of creativity to bring people together. Married in 2014, Amanda and Mark's decade together was a testament to unconditional love and partnership.

Survived by her husband, Mark Harrison; daughters, Samantha Kikkert, Paige Harrison, Piper Harrison, and Faith Harrison; mother, JoAnn Dunbar; brothers, Mark (Christy) Dunbar, Mike Dunbar, Scott (Jessica) Boersma, and Dave (Katie) Dunbar; along with numerous nieces and nephews, Amanda leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity. She is preceded in death by her father, George Dunbar.

Amanda's life was a mosaic of family, art, music, education, and travel. Her home was always open, her table always set for one more, and her heart always ready to love and support. She cherished her various dogs, seeing in them the unconditional love she so freely gave.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Trio Animal Foundation at 516 North Ogden Ave, Chicago, IL 60642, as a way to continue Amanda's legacy of giving and support.

To honor Amanda's memory, we invite you to share stories and memories of how she touched your life, perhaps through a shared love of art, an educational journey she inspired, or simply a moment that captured her essence. These stories will be collected and shared in a tribute to Amanda's extraordinary impact on all of us.

Amanda's journey was filled with love, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing the potential in everyone she met.
