Andrew "Andy" Finick Obituary

Andrew Finick Jr., 87, of Highland, Indiana, passed away on December 23, 2025. Andy was a lifelong resident of Highland, where he was born at home in a two-room shack—an origin he carried with pride throughout his life.

Andy began his working life as a professional photographer, a role that reflected his creativity and eye for detail. He later built a long and dedicated career at Inland Steel, where he worked from 1965 until 1997, completing 33 years of service. His strong work ethic and reliability were qualities he carried into every part of his life.

Andy was a dedicated amateur ham radio operator who used his skills and technical knowledge to serve others. He volunteered with Lake County Emergency Management and Homeland Security, contributing to disaster relief planning, and community readiness. His commitment to service reflected his deep belief in helping whenever and wherever he could.

Andy was an avid collector and restorer of antique radios. He found joy in bringing old things back to life and preserving their history. He was known for always lending a helping hand and for his positive attitude. Andy loved to joke, make people smile, and remind those around him not to take life too seriously.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Finick and Andrew Finick; his sister, Laverne (Bob) Zaranka; and his grandson, Sam Finick

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Finick; his son, Andrew Finick III; his daughter, Coreen McNeiley; his grandchildren, Alexander (Crystal) Finick, April (David) Brockes; Miranda (Nathan) Dado, Josephine McNeiley; and his great-grandchildren, Grant Finick, Sharyn Finick, Clark Finick, and Amelia Noah.

Andy will be remembered for his generosity, his service to the community, and the warmth and humor he shared so freely with family and friends.
