Anna "Hanna" Stasny

Anna ‘Hanna’ Stasny, age 88, left this world on July 26, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 & 2/3 years, Steve; her loving children Steve (Jamie) Stasny and Sandy (Mike) Olesh; adoring grandchildren Blake and Taylor Stasny and Sadie and Nathan Olesh.

Preceded in death by her parents Rudolf and Emilia Homolka and her sisters, Lalina and Maya and brother Jozef.

Hanna was born in Bobrovec, Czechoslovakia where she spent her earlier years studying and working as a draftsman.  She came to the US in 1968 on a trip to visit her Teta where she met Steve and the rest is history. They married in November of 1972 and started a family soon afterwards.

Hanna loved her family deeply and spoiled her grandchildren just the way a grandma should. She was a very proud Slovak woman that spoke both languages in her household. Mama had no filter and always spoke her mind--loudly. Luckily she'd voice a lot of her opinions in Slovak, with only her kids understanding who or what she was talking about.

Mama wasn't happy unless she fed you. If you were a guest in Hanna’s house, you knew better than to say "no" to anything she offered you and you NEVER left hungry.

Hanna was a loving wife, mom, sister and grandma and will most definitely be missed by all that knew her.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 9:00 am -11:30 am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN, 46322 with prayer services following immediately.

Internment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
