Anne (Annie) Marie Faith (Scott) Darling

Anne (Annie) Marie Faith Darling (maiden name Scott), 46, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Monroe Georgia, and Highland, Indiana, passed away on February 6, 2025. 

Annie was a lifelong learner. She graduated from Highland High School in 1997 and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Gender Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington. Annie received her Master's degree in Health Education from the University of Georgia and an advanced Education Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University. 

Annie was a loving, kind person who lived her life as an act of service to those in need. Annie was employed by the Georgia Department of Child and Family Services and worked tirelessly as an advocate for vulnerable children. She then was called to become a teacher. Annie spent 16 years teaching Special Education classes at several Georgia Elementary Schools, bettering the lives of many students and their families. One of Annie’s gifts was seeing the potential and possibility in children that others found challenging. She believed in the beauty of differences and celebrated her student's accomplishments. Her impact on her student's lives will be felt for years to come. 

Annie loved her family deeply and was a proud and committed mother to her son, James Jeffcoat. She was a devoted and loving wife to William (Bill) Darling, whom she met in Decatur, Georgia, in 2022, and married in Atlanta in 2024.  

Annie was deeply committed to her faith and was a practicing Catholic. She was an active member of the church. She and Bill even traveled to the Vatican, where their marriage was blessed by Pope Francis.  

Annie loved music, her morning coffee, and her friends. She was also a committed vegetarian since she was a teen and was an animal rights activist. She was especially fond of dogs and adored her own, Bentley and Maggie. She enjoyed sports and was a competitive runner who competed in Marathons and Ultra Marathons throughout her adult life, even placing in several races.  

Annie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Annie is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Darling of Atlanta, Georgia, son James Jeffcoat, of Monroe, Georgia, step-daughters Isabelle Darling, Sophia Darling, and Annie Darling of Atlanta, Georgia, parents James and Barbara Scott of Highland, Indiana, sister Sara Scott-Curran, brother-in-law Stewart Scott-Curran, and niece Skyler Scott-Curran of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Additionally, she leaves behind her mother-in-law Bernadine Darling of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and sisters-in-law, Katherine Asbrey of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Bernadette Darling of Greenville, South Carolina, paternal aunt Marilyn Schroeder, cousins Jennifer Dildine, Craig Kennedy, and Laura Kennedy. 

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, Indiana. A Mass in Annie’s honor will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace, 3025 Highway Avenue, Highland, Indiana.
