Annette Arent Obituary

Annette Marie Arent

(Nettie)

Annette Marie Arent, age 60 of Griffith, Indiana entered eternal life on Thursday, April 30th, 2026 after living a fulfilling life but taken too soon. Annette is survived by her loving siblings Laura Arent, Joseph G. Arent Jr (Kimberly), Elizabeth Arent, Therese Arent (Phil), nephew Joszabe Arent and her loving fur babies. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Joseph S. Arent & Rosemarie F. Arent and loving brother Stephen Arent.

Annette was known as “Nettie” by all and born and raised in Munster, Indiana. She spent many years traveling the country in her big purple rig along with her dog Sweet Pea. She made many friends along the way. She then moved home to spend time with her friends and family and became a bookkeeper.

Nettie was an avid collector of many things including horses, bears, wolves, and native American figurines. She was very creative and made hand crafted jewelry and loved to read and write poetry. She started playing the guitar at a very early age and enjoyed being a part of the church acoustic group at St. Thomas More parish.

Her real love was music which included everything from John Denver to classic rock and even heavy metal. But her first love was her family and friends. She was known to her siblings as their momma bear, their protector. She would do anything for her family and friends. She was our “fixer” she always wanted to make everything better and did. She put everyone before herself. She had many nicknames through the years and was known as Nettie, Nettles, Meems and had nicknames for all her family and friends as well.

Her dreams were to travel, open a wood shop and to renovate a home with all her cherished memories that she kept from all our loved ones who passed. She held tight to everything that was special.

She lived life to the fullest and loved to talk with everyone she met and wanted to leave them with a smile. She loved to share her stories and could capture them for hours with her wit, wisdom, and sense of humor. To know Nettie was to love Nettie. She was also the best loving Aunt to all our fur babies and they will miss her so much.

Nettie was an inspiration to all of us, especially in her final moments. She fought like a warrior and never gave up. She still used colorful language to tell us how she felt and stayed tough till her very last breath.

We are going to miss the late-night conversations, her sweet texts, all her wisdom and advice, her kindness, generosity, but most of all her love, hugs, and giggles. Her smile and laughter and stories lit up the room. We will always laugh about her coming to family holidays and bringing the green bean casserole that wasn’t made yet. She made the best rice krispy treats and always gave us the most thoughtful gifts. She wasn’t a big party animal, but loved a good margarita and her chicken tacos. We will miss that confident walk she had that said, “I am here and I am going to kick some ass if anyone messes with me, my family and friends!” Our lives will not be the same without our sweet, loving sister. If the love, we all had for her could have saved her she would have lived forever.

Fly high our beautiful angel, soar with the hawks and be free with all your horses in heaven and always be the leader of the band. You are now with all our loved ones that you missed so dearly. May they wrap their loving angel wings around you and keep you safe until we meet again. You will be dearly missed our sweet, beautiful sister and you will live in our hearts forever. We will take you to every destination you always dreamed about and scatter your ashes upon them in honor of you. We love you Nettie forever and always! We can’t imagine our lives without you, but we know you will be with us every step of the way!
