Anthony Raleigh Amaya

Anthony Raleigh Amaya, age 35, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 4, 2026. 

Anthony was survived by his devoted mother, Marina Orozco; grandmothers, Laura Velasquez, Roseanne Amaya and Jeanette Lopez; grandfather, Salvador Alonzo; brother, James Harris; sister, Mariah Harris; niece and nephews, Marcellino and Kattaleya Burr, and Enzo Clemons. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Amaya; uncle, Jeffrey Maldonado; and cousin, Vince Velasquez. 

Anthony was born on May 31, 1991, in Chicago, Illinois and was the first-born son and grandchild on both sides of his family. Throughout his childhood and teen years, Anthony loved playing baseball and enjoyed cheering on the Chicago White Sox. He was also a lifelong fan of the Power Rangers and Michael Myers from Halloween. In his late teens, Anthony's life took an unexpected turn with the onset of a serious mental illness that changed the course of his life. Despite the challenges he faced with his illness, it was only one part of his story and never defined him.  

Anthony will be remembered for his loving and kind heart, his silly sense of humor, and the laughter he brought to those around him. Though Anthony's time with us was far too short, his love, laughter and memory will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. A memorial service will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. 

Interment to follow on a to be determined date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
