Antonia “Theresa” Sucich Chambers Christensen, 90, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on September 9, 2025 at Bickford Assisted Living in Crown Point, IN.
Theresa was born on November 11, 1934 in East Chicago, IN. She graduated from Griffith High School, where she was voted “Best Sense of Humor” in her junior and senior years. Her adult life commenced as she married Jack Chambers in 1952, and they established their family in Dyer, IN welcoming their two daughters Denise and Janet, finally moving to Highland, IN. Following the passing of her husband Jack, Theresa embarked on a new journey, exemplifying her independence and resilience as a strong woman. She was employed by The Indiana Harbor Belt for numerous years. Upon retiring in 1994, Theresa married Lawrence Christensen. Together they travelled extensively throughout the country, collecting many treasures, particularly Christmas ornaments for her daughters. Ludington, MI became an annual fishing trip destination for many years, where she developed a passion for fishing. Her beloved cats provided her with many years of joy. Theresa was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Anna Sucich; husband Jack ; grandson Ryan Bailey; second husband Lawrence; sisters Elizabeth Rardin, Irene Boncella, and MariAnne Schneider; son-in-laws William Sweginnis and Armando Ruiz. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Sweginnis and Janet Ruiz (Bruce Spillman) as well as many nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, a private service and burial will be held at Calumet Park Cemetery.
