Barbara A. (Anderson) Wilson

Barbara A. Wilson (nee Anderson), passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18th, 2026.

She was a loving mother to Kathy (John) Werz, Steve (Mary) Wilson, Susan, and Danny Wilson. She was the caring aunt of Mike (Kathy) Anderson. One of her favorite cousins growing up was David (Joan) Zaun. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Wilson; brother, Charles Lee Anderson; parents, Carl “Fred” and Grace Anderson; and parents-in-law, Frank and Alice Wilson.

She worked as an Avon lady for many years, then as a house cleaner, and finally as a school crossing guard in North Hammond, IN.  In her later years, she loved sitting on the porch swing and chatting with whomever was swinging with her.

Barb was happiest when she was with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved reading a good book. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and family at Turkey Run, Potato Creek, Indiana Dunes, or any state park that they could visit. Family reunions in Red Wing, MN were her absolute favorite. At 85 years young she went to an Indiana Fever basketball game and fell in love with the team.

Barb was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed.

Family and friends will be gathering Friday, July 31 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, Indiana 46322.  A private burial will take place at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's name can be made to the Humane Society at:   https://www.humaneworld.org/en
