Betty Van Til

Betty Van Til, 96, passed away Friday, Febuary 3, 2023. She is survived by: children Janet (Wayne) Schaafsma of Arizona, Donna (Tom) Bytwork of Arizona, Jeffrey Van Til of Schererville, grandchildren Lisa (Dean) Vander Woude of Valparaiso, Ryan (Melissa) Schaafsma of DeMotte, Kara (Andy) Kroll of Grandville MI, Meredith (David) Shultz of Denver CO, Aaron Bytwork of Arizona, great-grandchildren Drew, Tyler and Braden Vander Woude of Valparaiso, Morgan and Riley Schaafsma of Demotte, Keegan and Tate Kroll of Grandville MI. Preceded in death by husband Ivan Van Til, father Paul Tanis, mother Theresa Tanis (Vanderlinden), brother Glenn Tanis, brother Roy Tanis.

Betty loved God, her parents, her husband, family and life. She attended schools in DeMotte, Lansing, and Crown Point High School (graduate). She sang and performed in various performances and was in the band and track. She was employed by Carnegie Steel (Gary), U.S. Air Force (Dayton Ohio), Highland Lumber and Supply, Sears, and Terpstra's. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, New Life of Highland IN, and First of Highland years ago for many years, and the Reformed Church when she was young. She loved to be with family, and to work and travel.  She believe strongly in faith and prayer, and prayed often.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am with Pastor Bill Sytsma. Burial at Hope Cemetery, Highland, IN.
