Bonnie J Christy

Bonnie J Christy, age 76, formerly of Aurora, IL passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020, at her daughter's home in Griffith, IN surrounded by her family. She is survived by: daughters, Kristin (Dion) Hadley, Kathleen (Ken) Steil, Karrie (Dave) Campbell, grandchildren Sara (Abhishek) Sabharwal, Kenneth Steil III, Michael Squires, Jennifer Steil, and Ally Hadley, great-grandchild Saanvi Elise, brother Dr. Charles (Mary) Chuman, sisters Catherine Mclachlan, Elizabeth LaPlante, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by: beloved husband Kenneth (Ken) Christy, parents Mary and Charles Chuman, best friend and twin sister Connie Brongiel, and sister Mary (late Don) Wyar.

Bonnie's life was full of adventure. She and her twin sister were models for Twindow, known for many ads, but their window ads in Better Homes and Gardens were the ones they loved the most.  She married Ken in 1963 and they were married for 52 years. She worked for Coca-cola for many years, then was a member of Teamsters, and worked at PIE as a biller. 

She went on to work for FlagSource as a secretary.  She retired and loved to travel with her beloved Ken.  She was a member of Our Lady Good Council Catholic Church in Aurora IL.  Bonnie was the president of the Illinois State Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary and she was Vice President of the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary.  She was an avid doll collector and plate collector.   She loved dogs so very much, including her three doggies, Kasey, Chole, and Kandy, who preceded her in death.  Bonnie always had a smile on her face and a great laugh.  She will be dearly missed.  

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN, 46322 on Saturday, October 17, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 3:00 pm with Father Jacob McDaniel officiating.
