Bonnie Lee (Van Gorp) Sherman

Bonnie Lee (Van Gorp) Sherman, age 78, of Crown Point, IN entered the presence of her Lord and Savior and into Eternal Life on Monday, September 13, 2021. She was a 1961 graduate of Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL and married the love of her life, Jim on October 9, 1965, following a short courtship after meeting at Kings Couriers. She graduated from Cosmetology School in 1982. She was a stay-at-home mom and raised her three boys, while at the same time she opened her own shop in her home and served the hair care needs of any family, friends and church members for many years before retiring. She was a 44-year member of Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville, IN.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jim Sr of 55 years, her three sons Jim Jr (Bethany) of Holmen, WI, Dan (Lori) of Albuquerque, NM, David (Shannon) of Center Point, IA, her siblings Bev Amptmeyer, Walt Jr (Laura) Van Gorp, Debbie (Scott) Rottier, her grandchildren Conor, Kamryn, Brittney (Isaiah) Orozco, Courtney, Megan and Christopher, great-grandson Gideon and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walt Sr and Ruby (Cook) Van Gorp, her twin sister Connie, her daughter-in-law Diane, her brother-in-law John Amptmeyer, as well as her grandparents.

A visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd), Highland, IN, 46322 on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at Lake Hills Baptist Church, 9209 W 85th Ave, Schererville, IN. A cemetery interment service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 1881 Thornton-Lansing Rd, Lansing, IL.
