Bozo "Bane" Banovic Obituary

In Loving Memory of Bozo “Bane” Banovic, April 6, 1946 – August 16, 2025.

With profound sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Bane Banovic, who left this world on August 16, 2025 at the age of 79. Born April 6, 1946, Bane lived a life rich in love, laughter, passion, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Bane’s heart belonged to his family. He was a loving husband, a proud and kind father, and a caring grandfather whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with stories, shared family meals, and the kind of laughter that lingers long after the moment has passed. He taught us the meaning of love, the strength of compassion, and the importance of showing up for another another – always. He shared the kind of unconditional love that made everyone feel safe and cherished.

His love for soccer was a close second. Bane came to the United States from Bosnia as a professional soccer player, bringing with him not only exceptional talent but also a deep love for the game that never faded. It was a lifelong passion that connected him to his heritage and brought him endless joy. Whether watching matches with family, or kicking the ball around in the backyard, Bane’s passion and enthusiasm were infectious.

Bane’s jovial spirit was unmistakable. He had a gift for making people smile – whether through a clever joke, a playful tease, or simply his infectious laughter. His presence lit up every room, and his ability to connect with others made him beloved by friends, neighbors, community, and anyone lucky enough to cross his path.

Bane is survived by his children, Nikola, Kristian, and Yvonne, grandchildren Sofilya, Robert, Adrianna, Mila, Anastasia, and Luka, sister Maria, brothers Dragan, and Jozo.

Preceded in death by beloved wife, Zlata (Gloria), brother Ivo, father Niko, and mother Ruza.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Bane’s love – for his family, for soccer, and for life – will forever echo in our hearts. He was a man of rare joviality and passion. His memory will be a guiding light, reminding us to live with kindness, courage, and reminding us to seek constant connection with each other.
