In Loving Memory of Candace Ann Pigg
Candace Ann "Candy" Pigg, age 62, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born on July 3, 1963, in Gary, Indiana, to Gladstone and Cordelia Overton, Candy dedicated her life to the greatest and most honorable calling: creating a loving, nurturing home for her family.
Candy was the true heart of her home. On July 7, 1984, she married her childhood sweetheart, Harold "Tom" Pigg. Together, they spent 42 beautiful years building a life and a family in the Gary/Griffith area. As a devoted wife and a fierce protector and cheerleader for her children, Thomas and Janice, she poured her soul into her household. Her kitchen was always open, and she was famously said to be the best cook on this side of the Mississippi by her husband. Her home was a true gathering place where she possessed the rare gift of making everyone feel like they belonged.
A proud 1981 graduate of Calumet High School who went on to earn a degree from Sawyer College, Candy chose to channel her immense talents into her family. Her legacy is found in the enduring love she instilled in her children and grandchildren, and the quiet kindnesses she shared with everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Pigg; her mother, Cordelia Overton Clark; her children, Thomas (Brenda) Pigg and Janice (Zachary) Scriff; her cherished grandchildren, Alex Pigg, Lance Scriff, and Allison Scriff; her brother, Danny Overton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gladstone Overton, and her siblings, Janice Overton and Raymond Overton
