Carlos C. Ruiz

Carlos C. Ruiz, age 74, of LaPorte, IN formerly of Griffith and Crown Point, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2022. 

Carlos Ruiz was born in Chicago, the son of Indalecio Ruiz from Mexico and Celia Cantu Ruiz from Texas. He was the sixth child of a family of 12.  He helped his father build their family home in Dyer, Indiana where they lived throughout his childhood; Carlos loved his family.

Carlos is the husband to Myrtle Ruiz; beloved father to Carlos (Suzanne) Ruiz Jr. and Angela (Jim) Ruiz-Pearce; loving grandfather to Samantha (Brian) Brilmyer, Brad (Abby Bortoli) Marker, and the late Bruce Marker; cherished brother to the late Thomas Ruiz, Virginia (the late Jack) Metzger, the late Indalecio (Janice) Ruiz, Lydia (Jack) Geralds, Ninfa Lyons, Leo (Linda) Ruiz, Dan (Linda) Ruiz,  Fred (Verna) Ruiz, John Ruiz, Flo Ruiz, Ric (Arlene) Ruiz; uncle to many and friend to countless others. 

He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He is a Lake Central graduate where he participated and was a four year letterman in wrestling. Carlos retired after almost 50 years of service with Gary Transfer Service.  He was also owner and operator of C.M. Ruiz Trucking. 

Visitation will be Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of his memorial service at 2:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322
