Carol J. Smolen

Carol J. Smolen age 92 peacefully passed at home with her family at her side January 6, 2025.

Carol is survived by her children, Claudia (George) Matusik, Christopher (Tammy) Smolen, Cathleen (Robert) Micco, and Ronald Smolen, grandchildren Craig, Jeremy, Daniel, Alex, Shelbie, Sean, and Kirstin, great-grandchildren Tyler, Samantha, Cati Anna, Ivy, and Emmet, sister-in-law Susan Beilfuss, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband Joseph T. Smolen, son Jon Smolen, parents Louis and Hazel Beilfuss, and brothers Louis (Buddy) and Larry Beilfuss.

Carol was born October 6th 1932 in Hammond, Indiana. She married Jospeh T Smolen on June 6th, 1956. Carol was a loving wife and mother. Carol enjoyed her time camping, sewing, and volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul in Hammond. Carol always referred to going to work when she went to St. Vincent where she would take phone orders from people in need of food.

Carol made many friend wherever she went. She will be missed by all.

Visitation will be  Sunday, January 12, 2025  at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Randy Harrison officiating.
