Caroline Studer Obituary

Caroline Irene Studer

December 28, 1924 - February 3, 2026

Caroline Irene Studer, age 101, of Highland, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by love.  Born on December 28, 1924, in Roselawn, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ivy (Tom) and Dorothy David.

Caroline was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 79 years, Elwyn Studer; her son, Gary Studer; her brother, Norman David; and her sister, Charlma Hanley.

She is survived by her loving children, Evan (Judee) Studer and Gail (Nelson) Wynn.  Caroline found her greatest joy in her family and treasured her role as grandmother to Brian Wynn (Robin); Traci (Jason) Studer; Joseph (Samantha) Studer; Jason (Melissa) Studer; Codee (EJ) Miller; and Gregory Studer. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Morgan, Kylie, Jessica, Ethan, Harlow, Kennedy, Kayleigh and Olivia, each of whom held a special place in her heart.  Caroline is also survived by Helen Studer (mother of Traci), Cheryl Studer (mother of Joseph and Jason), and Carol Wynn (mother of Morgan).

Caroline met the love of her life while in high school and they were married on November 26, 1942.  Shortly after their marriage, Elwyn left to serve in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII.  While he served our country, Caroline answered the call at home, working at Gary Tube Works and becoming part of the generation of women remembered as Rosie the Riveters.  She later served as manager at Thrift Mart Bakery in Griffith, Indiana where she worked for 16 years before retiring.

A devoted wife and mother, Caroline dedicated her life to caring for her family. She and Elwyn enjoyed winters spent as snowbirds in St. Petersburg, Florida, for more than 25 years. Caroline cherished the tradition she and Elwyn shared of spending every October in Door County, Wisconsin, attending the Fall Festival for over five decades.  Caroline found joy in the simple but meaningful things - receiving cards, adoring flowers, and feeling remembered by those she loved.

Caroline will be remembered for her quiet strength, steadfast love, and unwavering devotion to her family.  She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and grace that will continue to live on through generations.
