Carolyn Robinson Obituary

Carolyn (Corny) Cornelisen Robinson passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 28, 2019, in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

She was born February 8, 1929 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Paul and Pauline (Polly) Cornelisen. Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Carol Robinson, and sister Janet Ferris, and is survived by her children David (Deborah) Robinson of Grand Rapids, MI, Cathy (Robert) Johnson of Beverly Hills, MI, Thomas (Lisa) Robinson of Atlanta, GA and also her brother Robert (Carol) Cornelisen of Pentwater, MI.  In addition, she was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Barrett (Marcella) Robinson, Dana (Christopher) Meyer, Shelby (Dennis) Scheidt, Lindsey (Michael) Wallace, Audrey (Austin) Halstead, Andrea Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, and 8 great grandchildren.

Carolyn was very proud of her ancestral ties to Hammond and was always glad to share the story of how Hammond was named for her great uncle, George H. Hammond.

Carolyn attended the University of Illinois as an art major, which was reflected in her love of flower arranging for which she won several awards, landscaping, decorating her home, and more recently, the renewed interest in painting in both oil and watercolor.  She was also a member of the Delta Gamma sorority at Illinois.  Other interests included spending time with family, dancing to the Big Band sound, and having the company of the family dog(s) at her side.

As a long time resident of Birmingham, MI, Carolyn began selling real estate with Snyder, Kinney and Bennett (Keating) at the original office on Old Woodward in Birmingham, for over 30 years. She retired to Hot Springs Village, AR and then later relocated to Atlanta, GA.

A memorial service will take place at Hillside Funeral Home in Highland, Indiana on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00am. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.   In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society.
