Charmaine (Sherry) Marie Plautz, of Highland, IN, on February 25, 2025. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Dr. Donald Plautz, loving parents Joseph Sr. and Genevieve (Sorakopus) Piekarczyk, and dear brother, Dr. Paul Piekarczyk.
Charmaine is survived by her most cherished children, Camile (Eric) Stein, Douglas (Becky and the late Sally), Danette, and Alexis (William) Gannon; grandchildren Thomas, Kimberly, Michael, Elizabeth (Erik), Catherine (Derek), Christian (Mary), Mark (Ashley), Michael (Kristin), Eric (Sarah), Daniel (Becca), Benjamin; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear brother, Dr. Joseph Piekarczyk, Jr., and members of the Piekarczyk, Judis, and Plautz families.
Charmaine was the oldest grandchild on both sides of her family. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace since 1957 and beloved to the Our Lady of Grace Altar & Rosary Society, in which she held various offices, and Knotters and Krafters; served in Cub Scout Pack 279 and Boy Scout Troop 279 as an awards chairman; and was a girl scout leader, Marian Award Consultant, CCD teacher, and a recipient of the St. Anne Award.
Visitation will be March 6, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by her godchild and cousin. Rev. Phillip Kaim, at Our Lady of Grace Church on March 7, 2025 beginning at 10:30 am. Prior to the mass, there will be an opportunity for visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Charmaine will be remembered for her love and loyalty to her husband, Don, as well as her children, extended family and friends, and for her deep and abiding Catholic faith.
The family requests donations to be given to Our Lady of Grace School.
God has her in His keep, yet we will always have her in our hearts.
