Christopher Lynn Orrick suddenly passed away at the age of 48 years old on Monday, January 22, 2024. Chris was born on January 9, 1976, to loving parents and survived by Gary and Kay Orrick. His sister which he adored, Debbie Orrick and his only niece, Miranda and her husband Tyler Porter.

In August of 2021, he celebrated becoming a great uncle to Miranda and Tyler’s daughter, Elaina Porter. Chris leaves behind his first love and finally after 20 plus years of friendship and dating he later married her in 2015, Morgan Orrick. Her children Michael and Alexys, and Chris had the pleasure of raising them as his own. He leaves behind his mother-in-law, Wendy Borbely, The family dogs, Saban, Bama, Peyton, and Meg. Proceeded in death by his father-in-law Kalman “Buddy” Borbely and his lovely dog, Lovie.

Family meant everything to Chris and that also meant his friendships, Chris leaves behind an enormous number of friends who he considered family. He was a best man and groomsman in several weddings, watched his friends have families and had the joy of being Big Daddy O or Big O to many of his friends’ children. Chris graduated from Highland High School in 1994. He played all sports since he was a young boy from baseball to basketball to playing football in High School. After Graduating he joined his father in working at the Steel Mills but after three years Chris knew his true calling and it was working outdoors. He worked at a local irrigation company in Highland for 18 years. In 2016 Chris opened his own irrigation company with his wife and children cheering his dream on, Luma Grass Irrigation LLC was born. He also trained his son Michael on irrigation and the two of them became a force out in the field. Mikey Boy and Big Brown Guy building the dream the dynamic duo bond they both had for irrigation, Alabama game weekends, late-night UFC fights on Saturdays and fireworks. Chris was a die-hard Alabama fan and proudly displayed daily on either clothing, tattoos or decals on the vehicles and he ended most encounters with ROLLTIDE. Chris was meant to be around water because not only did he have the passion for irrigation he loved to go fishing. All through the years of his life he went on many fishing trips with his family and friends. He also kept a fishing rod in his irrigation truck and would be known to cast a line or two if he was near water. If he was not fishing then you could catch him on the golf course, Chris absolutely loved the outdoors. During social gatherings he was known to arm wrestle. At times he met new friends in that approach as well, do you want to arm wrestle.

We will miss his big smile, infectious laugh, and his love.

The family welcomes you in celebrating Chris’s Life on Sunday February 11, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave, Munster IN 46321; visitation beginning at 1pm, Chris’s favorite sweets will be available during visitation and service begins at 3pm. The family invites you to come in casual attire or your favorite football jerseys.

In lieu of flowers, donations to any animal shelter in your area in Chris’s name would be extremely meaningful to his wife, Morgan, and their children; Michael and Alexys.
