It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Claude Rakowski on February 18, 2026 while surrounded by his family. Claude was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend of many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey (nee Strych), sister, Francis (John) and brother, Carl (Clarice). Children, Scott (Deb), Robert (Tina) and Amanda (Josh). Grandchildren, Amber (Austin), Amanda (Austin), Tyler, Corey, Ashley (Brandon), Connor, Luke, Tyler, and Brandon. Great-grandchildren, Jade, Braylee, Iris, Carter, Kaiden, and Cameron. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Claude was born on May 5, 1942, in Chicago, IL and was a graduate of CVS High School. He proudly served our great country in the United States Army. On May 30, 1970 he married Audrey, celebrating 55 years. Claude retired from Local 17 as a Heat and Frost Insulator. He enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears.
Preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Sylvia Rakowski and parents-in-law, Eugene and Jean Strych. Brothers, Daniel and Paul. Sister, Barbara (Robert) and brothers-in-law, John and Dennis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 3:00-7:00pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd. (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 27, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 525 N Broad St., Griffith, IN at 10:00am.
Claude will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL, 60421 at 1:00pm on Friday February 27, 2026. (Attendees must be in line by 12:45 pm)
