Clifford Ballah, age 90, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Dishman and son, Larry (Debra) Ballah; grandchildren Tabitha (Tom) Henry, Rachel (Scott) Peters, Adam (Kellie) Ballah, Angela (Arthur) Gallegos, Melinda (Jonathan) Jeske, Neal (Emily) Ballah, Jacob (Holly) Ballah, Tyler (Cassidy) Ballah, Kassandra (Zachary) DeWitt and Abigail (Kyle) Blakeley; 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were parents Harry and Olga Ballah, brother Vernon, sister Lois and his beloved wife Mary.
Clifford worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life with the last working days spent employed by the Griffith Public School system. He and wife Mary moved from Hammond to Griffith shortly after their marriage and lived out their lives in the house that Clifford built. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping. Many weekends were spent sitting at a campsite under a canvas awning waiting for the rain to stop so that the fishing could begin. Clifford and Mary also enjoyed spending time going out to dinner with friends and returning home to play table games with the “gang”.
Clifford was a long-time, active member of Griffith Baptist Church. Just about every Sunday would find him in church doing what he could to help. He loved to assist in church building projects and general building maintenance. If the church building had a problem, he was there to help fix it.
Clifford quietly enjoyed life and the vacancy created by his passing will be hard to fill.
Visitation will be held at the Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Rd), Highland, Indiana on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9:00 AM with the funeral service following immediately at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dan Obinger officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the church’s Capital Improvement Fund.
