Cornelius "Corry" Borkowski

Cornelius "Corry" Borkowski, 86 of Highland, IN passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Sherry, beloved children: Karen (Alex) Zielant, Steve (Jennifer) Borkowski, Dave Borkowski, many dear grandchildren, and great grandchildren, beloved sister: Pat Kujawa, and many additional loving famil;y and friends.  Cornelius was preceded in death by his wife Jovita, daughter Christel, parents John and Sophie, brother Jim, sister Elaine.

Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2021, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Hillside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Ave. Highland, IN 46322.  Burial will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.

Cornelius attended Our Lady of Grace Church, he was a US Army Veteran, and a long time Electrician.  He enjoyed Indiana University basketball, and taking care of his lawn.  In his younger days he loved to fish throughout the midwest.  In his youth he was an excellent running back in footbalI, and as a high school pitcher, he threw a no hitter.  In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area would be preferred.
