Daniel Andrew Bogusz, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 15th, 2025.
Dan was born on February 2, 1941, to the late Thad and Martha Bogusz. Dan was raised in East Chicago, IN, and graduated Bishop Noll High School in 1959. Dan served in the United States Army for four years and then went on to graduate from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. After college Dan spent time in the corporate world. He later spent his career as a restaurant owner in his hometown, Highland, IN.
Dan is survived by his loving children Beth (Brad) Uram of Crown Point, IN, Alison Bogusz of Chicago, IL, and Daniel Bogusz of Munster, IN; grandchildren, Em Uram of Valparaiso, IN, and Thomas Uram of Crown Point, IN; sisters, Maxine (Sam) Potter of Cincinnati, OH, and Camille Root (Nello) Vignocchi of Orland Park, IL, and sister-in-law, Karen Bogusz, wife of the late Fred Bogusz, of Schererville, IN. Dan was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.
Dan is preceded in death by his newborn daughter, Jody Bogusz, parents, Thad and Martha Bogusz, and brother, Fred Bogusz.
Dan especially enjoyed being a grandpa, “Dziad,” to Em and Thomas. A long-time member of Highland Elks Lodge 981, Dan loved the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame football, IU basketball, and all-things golf including the Sunday Wicker Park skins game with his buddies.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 3:00pm-6:00pm, at the Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN, 46322, 219-838-0800. The Elks service will be conducted at 5:30 pm followed by a military honors service.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 at 10:30 am, at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Avenue, Highland, IN, 46322.
Private interment will follow on a future date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
