Deborah Ann (Sabo) Amrhein

Deborah Ann Sabo Amrhein, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 at The William J Riley Residence of Calumet Hospice.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Daniel Amrhein; children, David (Nancy) Amrhein and Dana (Craig) Garvin; grandchildren, Jackson, Joshua, Olivia, Isabella and Nathan; many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Priscilla Sabo; sister Patricia (late Clifford) Boback; and brothers Dr. William (late Martha, Joyce and Linda) Sabo and David (Mary) Sabo.

Debbie was born on May 15th, 1953 in East Chicago, IN and was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute. After meeting at Ball State University, she married the love of her life Danny, and they settled and raised a family in Highland. She spent 45 years in nursing, working in various roles including surgery and oncology at Community Hospital. She ended her career after serving for 25 years as the Director of Health Services for the School Town of Highland.

Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed annual trips to Siesta Key, Florida and camping in Door County, Wisconsin. She loved to travel and to visit new places. She loved to tailgate in the fall during the Notre Dame football games.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all of us.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3025 Highway Ave, Highland, IN, 46322 with a Gathering before the Mass from 9:45 am to 10:30 am at the church.
