Deirdre "Dee Dee" Anne (Bennett) Cox

Deirdre "Dee Dee" Cox, 51, passed away Friday, August 18th, 2023. Preceded in death by her mother, Delores Bennett, and sisters, Karen Smith and Rhonda Shanks. As well as her mother and father in law, James and Leona Cox.  Survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Cox, for 36 years. Her daughters, Destiny (Evan) Klingaman, Rhiannon (Alex) Cox, Cori (Steven) Vierk. Sibling, Ronald (Paula) Bennett. Grandbabies; Jillian, Robert, Jase, William, Levi, Simon, and Autumn. And puppies, Zeller and Oliver. 

Dee Dee grew up in Hammond and Griffith Indiana alongside her mother and siblings. At a young age she and Billy met. They have been inseparable ever since. Married in 1992. Together they had three daughters. 

Dee Dee would be described as hard working and dedicated. She loved deeply and held on to those close to her. 

While the girls were young she attended college. Eventually completing her associate’s degree in business management. Around 2004 she choose to be the arts and crafts, homework helping, scrap booking, sister drama settling, sport event chauffeuring, home maker. Filling her days on a softball diamond or planning the next friends and family function. Although her life was good, it became great when she was blessed with seven grandchildren. Never missing the “what do I do when…” phone calls. Or the “Is this normal?” text. Being a Nana was her true calling. She couldn’t hide that joy if she tried. 

Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd, Highland, IN 46322 from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Hillside Funeral Home at 9:30am  with a burial to follow at St. John St. Joseph  Catholic Cemetery.

Dee Dee is going to be missed by everyone’s path that she crossed. Please pray for her family in these times of sadness.
