Dionisio Pineda Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great, great grandfather, Dionisio Pineda, age 94, of East Chicago, IN, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by loved ones. His legacy is survived by his loving wife (Maria Pineda) and their children (Cilvia [Edward] Benard, Sonia Pineda, Sandra Pineda, Dionisio [Alicia] Pineda Jr., and Helen [Jaime] Martinez), fifteen grandchildren (Carlos [Vilma] Cerros, Vicky Cerros, Rafael Herrejon Jr., Maria [Byron] Cervera, Miguel Pena, Rachel Pena, Gregory [Tiffany] Benard, Christina Zapata, Donna Pineda, Darlene Pineda, Anthony Palomo, Mia Martinez, Jameson Martinez, Jaxon Martinez, and Jasper Martinez), fourteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents (Martin and Rebecca Pineda), four siblings (Lucas Pineda, Rudolph Pineda, Martin Pineda, and Elena Ramos), three children (Mitchell Pineda, Dennis Pineda, and Catalina Cerros), two grandchildren (Jesus Pena and Steven Cerros), and one great grandchild (Jalen Coles).

A man of few words… he always let his actions speak volumes instead. For Dionisio, an Army veteran who served our country proudly and was honorably discharged on August 8, 1953, his dedication to helping others and immense love for his family were the center of his world. What started as a family of two with Dionisio and his beloved wife, Maria, on February 6, 1958 created his beautiful immediate, as well as extended, family and legacy. His greatest joy was precious time spent with his beloved family and his ultimate pride were the immeasurable accomplishments in life by his family that he celebrated within his heart. He deeply loved his family beyond what words could ever express. His loving presence and enormous heart will be missed by all who knew him.  Family and friends, near and far, will forever cherish the lifetime of memories in their hearts of Dionisio… a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and friend. Today, tomorrow, always… find comfort in knowing heaven gained an angel, a “Dennis the Menace” at times but also a soul as genuinely true blue as they will ever come, one that will look after his loved ones forever more. May all continue to share his legacy for generations to come.
