Dollie Jean (Kistler) Baker

Dollie Jean (Kistler) Baker passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023.  She was 89 years old.  She was married to her husband, Donald Baker for 69 years.  They have two children:  Susan (Tom) Marsh and Donald Baker (who preceded her in death); one granddaughter, Jennifer (Ralph) Gamez, and three great-grandchildren,  Joshua, Donovan, and Ciera.  She also leaves behind a large family of cousins who loved her and will feel her absence at every family gathering.

Dollie was a proud lifelong resident of Griffith, IN.  She was the youngest child in the household of Frank and Dollie Kistler and grew up in a caring home full of family, laughter, and love.  She worked at the Griffith Shopper for several years.  She was a lifelong member of Griffith First Christian Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served in the King’s Daughters.  She hosted many backyard barbecues for her neighbors and family, and everyone looked forward to visiting her cozy and festive home for parties.  She was a kind, wonderful, friend who had a way of lifting up and supporting others.   She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm.  Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dollie and her son, Donnie.
