Donald John Biesczat

Donald Biesczat age 78, passed away on Friday March 21, 2025. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Justine Biesczat; children, Jeff (Ilser) Biesczat and Darci (Dominic) Chidichimo; grandchildren, Ayla Biesczat, Kai Biesczat; sister-in-law, Carole Bezat and niece, Barbara (Tim) Hogueisson, Alexa (Argenis) Reyes.

Preceded in death by parents, John and Marcella Biesczat, brother Leonard Bezat and sister-in-law, Evelyn (late John) Wojas.  

Don was born on July 14, 1946 in East Chicago, IN and was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute. On April 20, 1968 he married the love of his life, Justine Kluga and together they shared 56 years ultimately settling in Griffith to raise their family. Don retired from Inland Steel after 34 years.  He went on to work at the Indiana BMV where he retired after 10 years. After the BMV, Don worked at Lake Tires.  

Don was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Griffith, IN and a former member of the Griffith Lions Club and the St. Mary’s Men’s Club. He was also the Cubmaster for Cub Scouts Pack 518.  

Don enjoyed spending time with friends and family especially his grandchildren including the furry ones. Don was an avid Elvis fan who enjoyed spending Sundays watching Nascar. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Road (one block south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN.  

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Share Foundation or Lakeshore Paws in Valparaiso.
