Donald Erich Kaegebein

Donald Erich Kaegebein, 90, of Munster, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Don was born on July 19, 1933, in Lake County, Indiana to the late Erich and Bertha Kaegebein. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was the former president of the church congregation.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marilyn Kaegebein, and daughters, Karen Ahuja and Rebecca McCluskey; sons, Daniel Kaegebein and David Kaegebein; their spouses and eight cherished and beloved grandchildren, ranging in age from 8 to 40.

Don had a zest for life. He loved trains, photography and traveling. He also liked to work with his hands, whether that be in the garden or on projects around the house. He was a fun-loving husband, father, and mentor, with a fantastic sense of humor. And, he was a United States Navy Veteran, as well as a proud member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Highland, IN.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 from 3-7 pm at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN 46322. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 10 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 - 10 am, before the service, at the church. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
