Donald W. Messmer

Don Messmer, age 70, passed away the afternoon of March 17, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Rita, and son, Zack Messmer. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerry (Beth) Messmer, Bob Messmer, sister-in-law, Linda Messmer, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by his son, Kristopher Messmer, and parents, Woody and Janie Messmer, stepmother, Margaret Messmer, and brother, Jim Messmer.

Don was born in Gary, IN, on August 13, 1954. He was a hardworking and dependable man. He started his career at Christenson Chevrolet in the body shop. He worked his way up into the auto insurance field, becoming an auto damage appraiser with several insurance companies and eventually owning his own company, Messmer Auto Appraisals.

He enjoyed working on cars, always willing to help family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, March 24, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am with a Funeral Service at 11:30 am at Hillside Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8941 Kleinman Rd (one block south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN, 46322. Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating.
