Donna Scott (Lee. Bixenman), 78, of Schererville, IN peacefully passed away Monday, March 30, 2026. She was born March 14, 1948, at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL, to the late Donald and LeDean (Lee) Bixenman. Donna graduated from Lowell High School in 1966, where she made and maintained many life long friends. She was a member of the Lowell Bluebirds Softball traveling team. But, she gained most notoriety for going to iconic 60s Go Go dance clubs, where she became arguably one of the best dancers in the region. Post high school, she worked for many years as a dental assistant to Dr. Leonard Anglis Sr. and then Jr. and went on to a long career with Centier Bank where she became a proud and active member
of the Bank’s Quarter Century Club. She was also an active Lioness of the Crown Point Lions Club.
Donna was a very loving and devoted wife to Robert Scott. The two were married May 17, 2006, and spent their time together traveling the world. Together they loved their blended family which includes sons Eric (Shelley) Kuiper and Jason (Cynthia) Kuiper, Step-children, Elizabeth Connor, Robert (Traci) Scott, Grand-Children Andrea (Nicholas) D’Alfonso, Kyle (Lucia Grattone) Kuiper, Garrett Kuiper and Valerie Kuiper, Step-Grandsons Tim Connor and Preston Scott, and Great-Grandson Cassian D’Alfanso. Niece Dyan (Andrew) Hall, Nephew Scooter Bradley, Sister Deborah (Dan) Bradley and Brother David (Crystal) Bixenman were also very near and dear to her heart, along with many other relatives too numerous to mention.
Donna’s life was defined by her resilient effort to persevere through adversity. She chose to shine through every storm she weathered, which is why she found so much inspiration and meaning in visiting lighthouses throughout Michigan. She made friends everywhere she went and never lost sight of how one person can make a positive impact on others. She spent countless hours volunteering and making philanthropic contributions to the region in a multitude of ways. She enjoyed maintaining family ties and friendships through travel and the art of writing letters and cards for not only special life events, but also for the simple moments, when she always made time to share her heart. Those close to her always knew how special they were and the beautiful cards and letters she wrote will remain as a lasting memory of her love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider two things: First, put aside material things, rekindle meaningful relationships, spend time with those you love and don’t forget to appreciate the simple hug, as that is what life was all about to Donna. Second, in keeping with Donna’s philanthropic efforts, consider making a donation to the American Lighthouse Foundation in her memory. In accordance with Donna’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be announced at a later date, and her ashes will be scattered in Scotland and at her favorite lighthouses in Michigan.
